Q: What sets Piggie Park catering apart from other caterers?

A: Maurice’s Piggie Park has been a Columbia favorite for 60 years. Specializing in BBQ, we also offer so many other menu choices as well including Smoked Turkey, Pork Chops, Salads, Oyster Roasts and more. Our top priority is to give each customer and event the personal attention and care they deserve.


Q: What’s the most common menu you serve?

A: Southern ClassicBBQ Pork, Fried Chicken, Carolina Hash & Rice, Homemade Macaroni & Cheese, Green Beans, Cole Slaw, plus Rolls, our signature Southern Gold® sauce, and Fresh Brewed Tea included.


Q: What’s the most unusual menu that people don’t know we have?

A: Healthy Light Menu – a salad bar served with our Pork Ham and Grilled Chicken, plus fresh fruit and cole slaw. This is a popular menu with offices and medical staffs.


Q: What’s new in the Catering Department?

A: This year we added Oyster Roast and Lowcountry Boil caterings, and our clients are loving them! Also, we now offer Bulk Gifts discounts that are ideal for the holidays, as well as Fundraiser programs for schools, churches, and sports teams. We have worked to raise money for several local high school baseball teams and it's worked out great for them.


Q: What’s the big difference in the way Piggie Park caters today versus a few years ago when you started handling caterings?
A: We’ve added a lot of capabilities on our website to showcase our catering offerings and browse and book your catering event. I’ve re-worked our catering booking system to be much more customizable and cater (see what I did there?!) to the client’s preferences. We’ve also expanded into catering fancy parties with premium meats and sides and hors d’oeuvres as well as our famous casual meals caterings. This past year we added an Oyster Roast and Lowcountry Boil to our Catering menu offerings!


Q: What is the most stressful part about catering an event?

A: Planning and preparing for a catering can be stressful, but we are used to handling a huge volume of caterings, even multiple at the same time, so it’s much better for us to handle your catering stress than you to have to deal with it! We’re used to it ;)


Q: What is the most rewarding part about your job?

A: Once everything is set up and looking perfect at the event, I love being able to talk to the guests and seeing people enjoy the food!


Q: What are things people don’t think about when it comes to planning a party?

A: What food items go along with other foods. Some event planners aren’t local so they aren’t sure what’s good. Sometimes people love our food and go with our basics, but don’t think about their guests that don’t eat pork or BBQ often, and it’d be better to have a combination like BBQ and Fried Chicken. Also, I always suggest including one starch in the menu, for instance, don’t including mashed potatoes and hash & rice in the same meal.
